Easter Sunday, Jesus is Alive!

Easter Sunday, Jesus is Alive!

John 20:26-29

26 A week later his disciples were indoors again, and Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Don’t be faithless, but believe.”

28 Thomas responded to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Jesus said, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.”

Good Friday, Cross Service

Good Friday, Cross Service

Isaiah 53:4-6

4 Yet he himself bore our sicknesses,
and he carried our pains;
but we in turn regarded him stricken,
struck down by God, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced because of our rebellion,
crushed because of our iniquities;
punishment for our peace was on him,
and we are healed by his wounds.
6 We all went astray like sheep;
we all have turned to our own way;
and the Lord has punished him
for the iniquity of us all.

Palm Sunday, Hosanna

Palm Sunday, Hosanna

John 12:12-13

The next day, when the large crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 they took palm branches and went out to meet him. They kept shouting:

“Hosanna!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord —the King of Israel!”

What About The Trinity?

Here’s a 20 min. video on the Trinity…

The Trinity (RFRF) from Shiloh Baptist on Vimeo.

Who is God? What is He? The Trinity.

One God… nature, essence, “what”

Three Persons… beings, entities, “who”

God the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Spirit, the Spirit is not the Father, et. al. yet, they are all eternal and used interchangeably as God in the Bible.

This video isn’t long enough to go into all the detail we could… but it’s also too detailed for a Sunday morning sermon… so, for those who’ve asked about the Trinity… here’s a little bit to get you started…

Martyrdom in the Midwest

13 years ago was a Sunday much like any other Sunday for most people, but would end very differently at First Baptist Church in Maryville IL.

NewImage

FBC was a growing church (at the time about 1,200 average attendance) with a dynamic pastor who had been at the helm for more than two decades. Pastor Fred was a visionary leader who had a plan to spread the church through a multi-site model, eventually having at least three locations. That’s where I come in…
