This is Me

Do you consume Jesus?

26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Matt 26:26-27

If we are going to be a part of Jesus, we must consume Him. We must look at Him as life. Spend time in His word, with His people, in prayer talking to Him… do you ever get “enough” of Him? Don’t, hunger and thirst for Jesus, you need Him! The New Covenant is Jesus, drink Him in, feast on His blessings, and share it at the table!

What Are You Doing To Jesus?

Do you remember what Jesus said to Paul? He asked why he was persecuting “ME”

This was a shock to Paul because he didn’t understand… whatever you do to the church, you are doing to Jesus.

And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

Matt 25:39-40

So what are you doing to Jesus? Do you keep in touch? Do you check in every few weeks? How is your financial support? Are you really engaged and a part of Him, or is it just some box you check on the census card?

It is easy to slip into the attitude that the church is there for “me” or that it’s there if we “need” it… No no no.

We should be serving the church, caring for the church, visiting the members of the church… whatever you do to the “least” in your church… you have done it unto Christ.

Maybe the next time your preschool director says she needs teachers, we will remember this…

A Softer Kinder Jesus

Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell?
Matt 23

The next time someone suggests to you that Jesus was just some kind of happy go lucky “dude” who hung out with everyone and never called people out, don’t fall for it.
Jesus was very loving, he was kind, and he accepted anyone… provided they were willing to change.
I think sometimes we lose this idea. Jesus will accept you just where you are, but he won’t accept you to stay there. He wants more for you than that… and we should too.

Proof of the Resurrection

The key to the Christian hope is the resurrection of the dead. It is the only hope we have, without out the resurrection there’s no hope.

There was a group of guys called Sadducees who didn’t believe in the resurrection, and they wanted to trick Jesus, and they were mocking him a little for believing in such a thing.

Jesus’ response, his proof for the resurrection, is what God said in the Old Testament

‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.”

Matt 22:32

His point is, God IS the God of these dead saints. If there’s no resurrection, they are dead and gone forever. But, they are not dead and gone forever, they will be back, so God is still their God.

This is Jesus’ argument, the proof He puts forth to argue for the resurrection (and then He went out and was resurrected Himself).

You can trust in God, and you can have hope too! Just trust in Jesus and you too have the hope of the resurrection… this life isn’t the end!

Talk Is Cheap

“Where do you go to church?” Would your answer to that question be easy? When was the last time you were there? You should go to church… more than that, be a part of your church, truly be a functioning member. Be there, and make the most of it! Don’t be the kind of person who says one thing “I’m a Christian” but then acts differently. It’s what you do that matters most…

What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went. And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?

Matt 21:28-31

So, who’s the real Believer? the one who says “I believe” or the one who lives it? Do you believe? Really believe? It’s not hard, with the Holy Spirit’s help, you just need to do it… DO IT! 🙂
