I have long enjoyed the videos “The Art of Manliness” puts out. Obviously, I am well acquainted with what it takes to be a man 😉
Here’s a great video to spur us on to wake up earlier.
Here’s to never letting the Sun catch us sleeping.

How sure are we that we will be with Jesus?
And [the thief on the cross] said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
And [Jesus] said to him, “Today I say to you truly, you will be with me in Paradise.”
Luke 23
Jesus’ statement is guaranteed. It is “true.” the emphasis is on the fact that from the day Jesus died on the cross he could say “I absolutely promise, you WILL be with me in Paradise!”
And so we will, if we repent and believe the gospel… have you? do you? will you?
What’s the difference between Peter and Judas?
Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58 And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” 59 And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.
Luke 22:56-62
Peter went out and wept bitterly.
I’ve been reading Eric Metaxas‘ books on Bonhoeffer and his work on “7 Men” and I was reminded of Bonhoeffer’s best known work Nachfolge (or as it is known by it’s english title “The Cost of Discipleship“). What does it cost to follow Jesus?
Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Luke 21
The widow has the right attitude, it is all his. We do not have to give a lot, simply everything we have. Are you willing to give it all to him? Do we find it hard to even stir-up the courage to give just 10% through our local church? Jesus cares about so much more, he wants your life, all of who you are, because he can live your life better than you can. Follow him, with everything you are. Give up living your own life, and live your life for him!
It’s hard, but worth it!
What is our hope?
And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.”
Luke 20
Our hope is the resurrection from the dead. What’s the proof? Well, Jesus’ resurrection… but what did Jesus use as proof? The OT saints. God had not forgotten them, he won’t forget us. Though we die, as Job said, we will see him again!
Do you know Jesus? Have you trusted in him alone? You can… all you have to do is do it.
