• The FINAL years Judah (also: Habakkuk, Nahum, and Jeremiah)
• King Josiah tried to restore Israel’s former glory by removing idols from the Temple and getting back to the BIBLE.
• The DEATH of Josiah set Judah on a collision course with destruction.
3 Main Sections:
1. Zeph 1:1-2:3 Judgment on Jerusalem
2. Zeph 2:4-3:8 Judgment on the nations along with Jerusalem
3. Zeph 3:9-20 Hope for EVERYONE
SECTION #2 EXPANDS to include the Philistines, Moabites, Ammonites, and Assyrians…
• With judgment there is always HOPE
SECTION #3 The point of God’s consuming fire is not simply to destroy but to PURIFY all the nations along with Israel.
• The two ideas of JUSTICE and LOVE depict the future God has for this world.
