The Book of Jonah (Part Two)
• The (true) story of a rebellious prophet who hates God for LOVING his enemies.
• Chapters 1 & 3 are Jonah’s interactions with non-Israelites
• Chapters 2 & 4 are Jonah’s PRAYERS
• God’s response to Jonah’s prayer is to VOMIT him up on dry land.
CHAPTER 3: God recommissions Jonah to PREACH to Nineveh and he complies.
• Heb: הָפַךְ (hâp̱aḵ) “Demolished, Destroyed, Overthrown…,Transformed, or CHANGED”
CHAPTER 4: Jonah is ANGRY and he prays for a second time.
• Jonah is unwilling to FORGIVE… don’t be like Jonah.
• God puts up with the JONAH in each of us, so we need to put up with the Nineveh in OTHERS.
