Chapter 1 is about a PAST “Day of The Lord”
• This was a recent disaster when a LOCUST swarm had devastated Israel
Chapter 2 is about a FUTURE “Day of The Lord”
• He seems to describe another wave of locusts but this time he uses MILITARY and COSMIC imagery
• Repentance is not just going thought the motions; what the Lord wants is you to repent from the HEART
• Israel’s SIN led to disaster but God’s MERCY creates hope
Chapter 3 is three poems that match God’s three responses from Chapter 2:
1) To DEFEAT the Invaders
2) To RESTORE the land
3) To be PRESENT with His people
• He will make all things new through the healing power of His PRESENCE
