The Book of Isaiah (part 2)
• The book was written by the prophet Isaiah and has a very complex literary design
• The First Half of Isaiah (Chapters 1-39) has 3 main sections
Chapters 1-12; 13-27; 28-39
Section 1: Judgment and hope for JERUSALEM (Isa. 6:13 & 11:1)
Section 2: Judgment and hope for THE NATIONS (Isa. 14:15; 25:7-8)
Section 3: The Rise and Fall of JERUSALEM (see: 2Kings 24-25)
• The Second Half of Isaiah (Chapters 40-66) develops the theme of HOPE further
• Chapters 40-48 is an announcement of HOPE
• Isaiah wrote his part and left the rest to his DISCIPLES (Isa. 8:16; 29:10-12; 30:8-9)
