The Book of Esther: Part 2
Esther 6-10
• Mordecai and Esther, his NIECE are both Jews
• Ahasuerus is the KING of Persia
• Haman, a government official, is the main VILLAIN and a Canaanite
• We see God in His ACTIONS – He is never directly mentioned
Chapters 1-2
• Esther wins a contest to become QUEEN
Chapter 3
• Haman convinces the king to enact a decree that all Jews would be KILLED
Chapter 4
• Esther and Mordecai make a plan for her to reveal to the king that she is JEWISH hoping he would then reverse the decree.
Chapter 5
• Haman has a 75-foot GALLOWS constructed to kill Mordecai.
Chapter 6
• The King remembers Mordecai saved his LIFE
Chapter 7
• Esther tells the king that she is JEWISH
• The king is enraged and has Haman HANGED on the GALLOWS he had built for Mordecai
Chapter 8
• The king enacts a counter decree that the Jews are to DEFEND THEMSELVES
Chapter 9-10
• The feast of Purim is established to celebrate the Jewish people’s deliverance
