(Sec. 3) 1Kings 17 – 2Kings 8: The Prophets

• Each kingdom had about 20 kings

• NONE of the kings in the North (Israel) were good

• Only 8 of the kings in the South (Judah) were faithful

• With each king there is a PROPHET to speak God’s Word to them

• The most famous prophets were Elijah and Elisha from the NORTHERN kingdom of Israel

• Their ENEMIES were king Ahab and his Canaanite wife Jezebel

• There are 7 miraculous sings recorded of Elijah and 14 of Elisha

(Sec. 4) 2Kings 9-17: The slide to exile

(Sec. 5) 2Kings 18-25 Temple Destruction and Exile

• We meet some of the heroic KINGS in the South (Judah)

• Hezekiah (ch. 18-20) He remains faithful even when Assyria comes to Jerusalem

• Jeremiah (ch. 22-23) Finds the Law and is convicted to return to the Covenant.

• (ch. 24-25) Recount how the Babylonians invaded Jerusalem and destroyed the temple. They carry the people, including the royal line from David, into EXILE.

• Kings ends with God holding out hope through Jahoikin
