“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or without clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick, or in prison, and visit you? “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:37-40
When we help the church, we are serving Jesus. It’s that simple. When we neglect the church, we are neglecting Jesus, that too is a simple idea. The hard part is when we look at our own lives. How much of myself do I give to help the fellow believers of my church? Do I support the ministry with my time by attending? Do I serve in roles that help the work of reaching people, teaching people, and serving people to be accomplished? Do I commit my resources to fund the ministry of my church? Do I pray for my church? When someone is hurting at my church, do I help? It’s very easy for church to become a place you go to, or watch online, but church is much more than that.
Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Matthew 25:45-46
