“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that he who created them in the beginning made them male and female, and he also said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Marriage is not a legal document. It’s more than a piece of paper. It is not a temporary situation, it really is what the traditional vows state: “for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.” Jesus confirmed the Old Testament’s view of marriage as one man and one woman for a lifetime. The two become “one flesh” thus divorce is on the same level as killing, sometimes it has to happen, but it should be rare, it always destroys lives, and there is always at least one guilty party. Fight for marriage, your own, and the idea in general. Marriage matters.
