We know that all things work together for good to those who love God . . .
—Romans 8:28
Disaster strikes every life at one time or another, anyone who tells you different is selling you something. However, part of the goodness of the gospel (i.e. “good news”) is that life works out for our good if we love God.
As Christians, we should have a life that is inclined towards God. In fact, God should be everything to us and we should rest in the knowledge that there is nothing called “chance” in whatever may come or way. God’s providence brings you into every set of circumstances that you find yourself in. It is not a mystery to Him.
Listen to what Oswald Chambers has to say about providence in the Believer’s life:
Never put yourself in front of your circumstances and say, “I’m going to be my own providence here; I will watch this closely, or protect myself from that.” All your circumstances are in the hand of God, and therefore you don’t ever have to think they are unnatural or unique. Your part in intercessory prayer is not to agonize over how to intercede, but to use the everyday circumstances and people God puts around you by His providence to bring them before His throne, and to allow the Spirit in you the opportunity to intercede for them. In this way God is going to touch the whole world with His saints.
Every Believer needs to always have their “spiritual eyes” open and allow the situations in our lives to be a benefit to the kingdom, and not simply something to survive and complain about. We should always be asking “how can God use this for His good” and in that way, He will most assuredly use it for ours! We need to bring our burdens to the Lord in prayer and seek His way.
God uses the circumstances in which I find myself and the people who surround me to change the world. YOU are God’s plan for this backwards culture of selfishness and me-centered lustfulness that we find ourselves in. Keep conscious of opportunities to make a difference, and use your situation to His advantage.
God is molding and shaping you into the person He wants you to be, the faithful follower that you were born to be, but if you will not expand your faith to be able to rejoice through suffering, you will never become that person.
See past your own desires and look through the pain of the “here and now” and be the person you are destined to be! Follow Jesus through the storm. Don’t give the Devil a victory through your sorrow, overcome evil with good!
