Leviticus 22-23

Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the people of Israel and say to them, When any one of the house of Israel or of the sojourners in Israel presents a burnt offering as his offering, for any of their vows or freewill offerings that they offer to the Lord, if it is to be accepted for you it shall be a male without blemish, of the bulls or the sheep or the goats. You shall not offer anything that has a blemish, for it will not be acceptable for you. And when anyone offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering from the herd or from the flock, to be accepted it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it.

We are all flawed. Every one of us has sinned, that’s why we must have a perfect sacrifice on our behalf. The blemishes on the animals are symbolic of sin. It is a way to remind us we can only submit a perfect life to God, and yet, none of us can actually do that, because we sin. How, then, can we get right with God? Jesus. He lived a perfect life without any Sin. So, he was the only one who could actually present his life as a sacrifice on behalf of another. If we were to die, we deserve it because of our sin, when Jesus died, he was able to make it a gift. Praise his name for his amazing gift of grace!

Leviticus 20-21

You shall therefore keep all my statutes and all my rules and do them, that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out. And you shall not walk in the customs of the nation that I am driving out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I detested them. But I have said to you, ‘You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, who has separated you from the peoples.

There are conciseness for not following the Lord. If you are God’s, you need to live for him, not for yourself. If you are a citizen of the eternal city, follow his laws not the laws of the place you happen to be pitching your tent. God will bring us to our eternal home, but we’ve gotta be his. Follow him today.

Leviticus 17-19

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, I am the Lord your God. You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes. You shall follow my rules and keep my statutes and walk in them. I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore keep my statutes and my rules; if a person does them, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.

We are not called to live by the standard of the country we live in, we live by God’s standards. Just because something is legal, it doesn’t mean it’s right. Pick up THE BOOK, it won’t change.

Leviticus 15-16

Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, sprinkling it over the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat. Thus he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleannesses of the people of Israel and because of their transgressions, all their sins. And so he shall do for the tent of meeting, which dwells with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.

We need to be holy to have communion with God. We are unclean. Only sacrifice of life can make us holy. We’re unable to sacrifice our life and also live to God. Jesus solved this problem. He died for us and because he is God, he survived that death. He also could die for us because he didn’t have to die for himself. His life is eternal so there is more than enough sacrifice for all. Trust Jesus today, you need him.

Leviticus 14

So he shall make atonement for the house, and it shall be clean.

God has provided for our atonement, not by things we can do today, but by the sacrifice of his Son. Without him, we are hopeless, with him, we are clean. Trust him today.
