Psalms 132-138

Behold, how good and pleasant it is

when brothers dwell in unity!

Unity among God’s people is very important. When we are divided, we cannot accomplish the goal. However, sometimes we get the false impression that unity is the goal, it’s not, the gospel is. The way we attain unity isn’t by having a “I’d like to buy the world a Coke” moment, but by moving forward with those who are agreed to be focused on the spread of the good news. In verses like Titus 3:10 we see that the road to unity isn’t convincing everyone, but only ultimately linking arms with the convinced. The gospel isn’t negotiable as the most important thing. If someone wants to argue about secondary matters, for the sake of the gospel, don’t let them bog you down. That’s hard, but that’s how important our mission is.

About John Harris

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
